The Nursery teacher is Mrs Broome. Mrs Challis and Miss Hudson will be supporting a key group of children in the class. Mrs Forde will also work alongside the Nursery team.
The Nursery morning session time is 8.30 am – 11.30 am (15 hours per week.) We also offer a lunch club from 11:30 am - 12:30. Children can bring a packed lunch and attend lunch club for an additional fee. 30 hours provision is also available and the day continues into the afternoon from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm. Children move to full time schooling in our Reception class in the September of the year of their 5th birthday.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between three and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
Spring 1
This half term our topic will be ‘Dinosaurs’ and we will be learning all about different Dinosaurs as well as reading stories such as ‘Dinosaurs Love Underpants' and 'How to Grow a Dinosaur'. We will be joining in with lots of fun, creative activities, including painting and printing Dinosaur footprints, making giant underpants using collage, making Stegosauruses with big plates on their back and making salt dough fossils.
We will continue to practise pencil control, letter formation and writing our names. We will also continue our phase 1 Phonics sessions where will be focusing on initial sounds in words.
In Maths we are going to practise counting, where we will be accurately counting a set of items, giving the value of the set and then comparing this to the amounts in other sets.
Tapestry - Learning Journals
At Hobbs Hill Wood we use an online service called Tapestry for our journals to share your child's learning and development with you. This will allow you to log in and see photos and information about your child's learning. We also encourage parents to share learning moments from home that we can share with the children in class.
