Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

Improving outcomes for all our pupils through high quality teaching and learning

Reception

Welcome to Reception!

We have two Reception classes, Mrs Broome (Stars) and Mrs Brosnan (Comets). They will be supported by Mrs Nahar and Mrs Rashid.

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between three and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Tapestry

At Hobbs Hill Wood we use an online service called Tapestry for our journals to share your child's learning and development with you.  This will allow you to log in and see photos and information about your child's learning.  We also encourage parents to share learning moments from home that we can share with the children in class.

Topics

Our topics for the Autumn term are Ourselves/People Who Help Us and Celebrations Around the World.

In the Spring term we will be learning all about Space and then move onto looking at growing and changes.

Moving forward to the Summer term we focus on learning about different minibeasts and then the time machine, where we will compare past and present.
