Quick update on the football for you-
Before Christmas we played against Kings Langley and drew 1-1. It was all a bit disappointing, really. We had most of the play and a few chances to win it, but nothing clear-cut. It could have been better, but then again, it could have been worse.
Last week we played away against Grove Road School in Tring and had a much better afternoon. After a fairly tight opening 15 minutes, Dieago gave us the lead with a well-placed drive into the bottom corner. That goal seemed to give us a fresh lease of life and we upped our game considerably. In fact, we played some of our best passing football this season.
The second half started with goals from Thomas and Josh. A fantastic run from Kyle and a quick one-two saw him burst into the box to smash in the fourth. Josh then popped up later on to seal the victory. It has to be noted that their 'keeper played a blinder and prevented the scoreline from being doubled.
Yesterday we played our fifth league game at home against Hobletts Manor. Following the previous day's heavy rain, the pitch was a bit on the primordial boggy side. Our free-flowing passing game was replaced with a trench warfare kind of a game. The first half was nil-nil with very few chances for either side. A few long shots whistled over the bar but there wasn't much to trouble either 'keeper.
The second half was better, though. A couple of great through balls from our midfielders saw some better attempts on goal. A blistering two minute spell in the middle of the half turned the game completely. Another composed finish from Dieago gave us the lead and that was soon followed by a great strike from Kyle. Although there were a few wobbles late on, we never really looked like conceding.
So far then - played five, won 4, drawn one. Not bad at all.
